Artur Zmijewski, Singing Lesson 2, 2003.
This documentary video speaks about the communication of the deaf and of the hearing and the language of the conductor to his choir. A class of deaf students are filmed as they participate in a singing lesson, then filmed again in a church with orchestra and trained singer. There are layers formed sonically through the string instruments, the woman's voice, and the sounds and noise of the deaf children singing. The sound created by the deaf students is the abstraction against what we know/understand as choir music in a church. The footage was moving; I watched it twice.
