is one of the more interesting abstract expressionist painters in my mind (though clement greenberg stated frankenthaler to be a "post-painterly abstractionist"). im quite fond of the tonalities and palette she adheres to in much of her painting. dore ashton wrote many books on art during frankenthaler's time. the new york school is excellent insight...ive been meaning to get my hands on her book on guston.
